New Iron Man 3 Trailer Coming Out

One of the great things about working at home in the Philippines, is that you have great control over your daily schedule. This however can also translate to a lot of hours thrown down the drain by spending too much of your online time going over famous quotes, famous memes, and even just your email. But sometimes, you encounter some gems along the way.

This is one such gem: The new Iron Man 3 trailer.

Actually, I found the link to Marvel’s new Iron Man 3 trailer over on Facebook.
Here’s the link to their site:Iron Man 3 Trailer

All you have to do is to simply like their page and you will be alerted when the power level finishes loading to watch the new Iron Man 3 trailer.

If you loved the Avengers, you’re going to love Robert Downey Jr. once more as Tony Start: billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.

Man, it would sure be nice being a billionaire like Mr. Stark. But you know what? Being able to manage my own time, feels like a billion dollar already. So what do you say? Ready to work from home? Just click the link.

Image and Iron Man are property of Marvel.

What You Need to Work at Home Philippines

Okay, after that little bit of hiatus (which was frankly longer than I expected it to be), I think it’s about time we started our work at home regimen. Don’t worry because to work from home is actually not that hard – in fact, like what all of those networking gurus keep on saying: nothing’s impossible if you put your mind to it. Plus, when you work at home, it’s a lot more believable than selling a wonder product.

1.      A Main Skill

Want to know how do I get a job in IT that works for me and my schedule (I’m a volunteer teacher, by the way)? I focus on a skill and market that online. You see I’ve been wondering for the longest time how do I get a job in IT and work at home at the same time. Then I found out that to best market myself, I needed to specialize.

So what’s your main skill? Do you write? Do you do graphic design? Do you like taking photographs? Yes, if you can do it on a computer or pass your output digitally then I’m pretty certain you can use that to work from home. For example, I work from home by submitting articles online. Writing is my main skill. My friend, who recently got on oDesk, does work from home by submitting photographs. His main skill is photography.

So how do I get a job in IT in a work at home setup? Simple, just pick your main IT skill and market that. Graphic Design? Web Design? 3D animation? You name it, there’s a good chance you’re going to stop asking yourself, “How do I get a job in IT?”

2.       Register at oDesk

What is Odesk? Well, if you haven’t visited their site just yet, then you should definitely head on to their site after you read this blog post, and get yourself registered. And what is Odesk all about? It’s all about connecting freelancers (that’s what you can call yourself when you work at home) with foreign employers. If you’re still a bit unsure about oDesk and still want to find out more about what is Odesk able to provide you, don’t worry because I’ll have a posting just for that. Now quit asking what is oDesk for and go finish reading so you can head on to oDesk after this.

By the way, I’m not earning money from directing you to Odesk (although I wish I did), but I’ve been a member of oDesk for since 2010 and frankly, it’s a pretty great site.  I don’t need to post a copy of my earnings, right? I mean, I’m not out here to make you millionaires. I’m here to help you earn extra in your spare time.

3.       An Internet Connection

Of course you need an internet connection. If you have a stable internet connection, it’s going to be useful especially if you’re looking to work from home as a call center agent or a virtual assistant.

If you have all three then you’re ready to start to work from home and earn extra cash. Just remember, this isn’t a get rich quick scheme. We’re just here to help each other out. So, if you need to know more, just drop a comment or like our FB page and send me an email.

Also, if you need help on how to make an Odesk profile that attracts employers, we’ll have a posting about that soon.

What else do you need help with? Just leave requests at the comment section below so it’s easier for me to keep tabs.

God bless, everyone.

Philippines flood and heavy rains

Here we go again. This always happens yearly – the country submerging under a torrent of rain. People suffer and all that, but there’s still no end to our flood problem.

Right now, I am comfortably dry and working from home – getting some online it jobs done and all that jazz – but as I listen to the news and hear about the Philippines flood I can’t help but remember when I got caught in the middle of Ondoy.

When the cities of the Philippines flood, the people adapt and make do. Like these brave souls.

<Insert Dream Sequence SFX here>

There you go. This is me remembering house-high floodwaters and families cooking rice on their roofs.
Oh, and the cleanup that came after.

<Outro Dream Sequence SFX>

There’s no amount of Philippines flood news or Facebook photos that can tell you how it feels to be in the middle of a storm, with the floodwaters rising all around you. I won’t even attempt to do that right now. Nope. I don’t think it would be fair for all those caught in the flood and spending the night at relocation centers.

This is the Makati skyline. Is that fog?

Right now all we can do is pray.

Then send some relief goods to those who need it. Then pray some more. And probably just keep quiet while the guys working in the government bicker about flood problems and solutions.

Wachowski Brothers No More

If you're waiting for the Wachowski Brothers next movie, you might get tired of waiting. You see the Wachowski Brothers are no more. Yes, the director brothers made famous for the Matrix are now no more. Now, they're more appropriately known as the Wachowski Siblings.

Or the Wachowski Brother and Sister.

You see one of the brothers is now a sister. After undergoing a sex change the months following Speed RacerLarry Wachowski is now Lana Wachowski.

So no more Wachowski Brothers for us then. Just the Wachowski Brother and Sister.

And apparently a lot of Matrix puns littering the internet.

The Cost of Being Iron Man

Now here's a post that's totally unrelated to work from home jobs, tips and advice. Although, I think it's definitely a lot of fun. Ladies and gentlemen, this is how much it costs to be The Iron Avenger.

Think your current salary can make you an Avenger? Not unless you're Tony Stark. But if you were to start working on work from home jobs then perhaps...perhaps.

But before you start putting your head in the clouds, here's a little eye-opener to help you succeed with whatever work from home jobs you're doing and will do.

This Iron Man is purely for fun. Work from home jobs are still serious jobs and very much unlike get-rich-quick schemes.

Well, I have to get back to my online job writing for this Australian company. I'll maybe post the Batman version of this later.

Wrong Ideas about Work from Home Jobs

So classes have just been suspended here and the kids are going crazy over their extended weekend but like a regular 9-to-5er I still need to get off from bed and work like the rest of the telecommuters who have work from home jobs. You see telecommuting isn’t a vacation. Actually, it isn't a lot of the things that people think it is. That’s why I think it’s a good idea to talk about all the misconceptions that a people have about online jobs – before they destroy your budding telecommuting career.

It isn't a vacation

Storm clouds on the horizon? Not a problem because you aren't on a vacation. Now get to work!
Just because you work from home and you can work anytime you want doesn’t make work from home jobs paying vacations. No. If you have this idea in your head, better get it out of there as early as possible. If you have to brainwash yourself by watching old episodes of That’s Entertainment or Mr. Bean at the Olympics then do so, just as long as you turn off your vacation mode. Work from home jobs, whether you’re doing transcription, web design, graphic design, or programming, are jobs. Treat them as such.

The boss of you…isn’t you

Sorry, but it’s true. Being able to work in your pajamas at 9 o’clock in the morning doesn’t mean you’re the boss. It simply means you’re an offshore contractor that does work from home jobs and likes to work in your pajamas at 9 o’clock in the morning. The boss is the guy handing you payment for your work. So get off your high horse and go update your client with an email before he cuts you lose.
We might not be the boss, but we look just like that when we work.

You aren’t the best there is at what you do, bub

There are hundreds of thousands of contractors that can do exactly what you do. So just face it: you’re no Wolverine. You’re not the best there is at what you do. If you think you can write well, there’s probably a Native English speaker who graduated top of his or her class who can do better work than you. Same thing goes for virtual assistants, graphic designers, programmers and social media marketers. That said, you should maybe rethink just how much you charge for your services.

If you had the same ideas about work from home jobs, I advise that you exorcise such thoughts from your head. Doing so can not only help you find better work from home jobs but can also help you in keeping your online jobs. I used to think the same way about telecommuting, but as I gained more experience – botching a couple of great accounts in the process – I discovered that work from home jobs actually required as much discipline, perseverance, coffee and love (awww) as any regular office job.

Silly London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony Videos

I did kind of say in my previous post that we all needed a bit of silly in our Olympics, but come on! Mr. Bean in the opening ceremony?

For long-time fans of Mr. Bean, like yours truly, there's nothing really new about what he's doing right here. I knew when Boyle made mention of Blur that something was going to be up. This I didn't expect.

Hey, if they were going to allow these things, then maybe they should give the Philippines a try.

What do you guys think?

Celebrating Silly Thoughts and the London 2012 Olympics

This right here, um, puzzles me.

As I start writing this, the countdown clock to the Opening Ceremony of the  London 2012 Olympics just hit the three-hour-mark. Am not much of a sports fan (I doubt the Olympic Committee will include MMA in the games anytime soon), but I do love a good celebration. And if the Olympics was anything, it’s a celebration.

So in honor of this wonderful event, which is the Olympics, I decided to take some time off and celebrate with the rest of the world the opening to this much-anticipated event by reminiscing my early thoughts about the Olympics.

The Olympics is Silly

This was the first impression I had about the Olympics. I was about 6 years old. You’re probably wondering what kind of people my parents were for raising a kid who thought something as pristine as the Olympics was silly, but now seven Olympic years later, I’d say my younger self was right on the money.

Don’t believe me?

Just take the Walkathon (or at least that’s how I called and still call it), for instance. Actually called the Race Walk, it’s a silly-named race where athletes, must, and this is what it says on the London 2012 Olympics site, “fight the urge to break into a run.”

Race Walk: Going the slowest the fastest. Or is it the other way around?

Now, I can't decide what I find sillier, the athletes who are trying desperately not to run or the folks cheering them on. “Faster! No, wait! DON’T RUN. What are you doing? GO FASTER! WAIT! STOP! ARGHH!”

Another thing is the Synchronized Swimming. I know. I get it. It’s hard to keep afloat, wear those hideous suits, and smile the whole time. But man, it has to be pretty near impossible finding an all-girl set of octuplets in each country, right?

Mommy should probably get a medal as well.

The Olympics Invented Fireworks

Okay, this might be a third-world thing, but back then I honestly thought fireworks were invented by the people behind the Olympics. I’d be watching these fireworks on the television and think: “Those things must cost a million pesos.”

Now, that I’m older and have access to the wonderful thing that is the internet, I’ve read somewhere that China actually invented fireworks. Whoa. China invented fireworks. Invented. They actually inven-AAAaaandddd I’ll probably leave that there alone.

Maybe a little bit of silly is a good thing; especially in something as big and grand as the London 2012 Olympics. So bring on the Race Walks, the Synchronized Octuplet Swimming, the Trampolines and the grinning fans, it’s time for the Olympics once more. Let me just walk very, very fast -- without running, mind you -- to the fridge and grab an Olympic-sized burger. Feel free to cheer me on.

By the way, all pictures are copyright of the official London 2012 Olympics site.
