Here we go again. This always happens
yearly – the country submerging under a torrent of rain. People suffer and all
that, but there’s still no end to our flood problem.
Right now, I am comfortably dry and
working from home – getting some online it jobs done and all that jazz – but as
I listen to the news and hear about the Philippines flood I can’t help but
remember when I got caught in the middle of Ondoy.
When the cities of the Philippines flood, the people adapt and make do. Like these brave souls. |
There you go. This is me
remembering house-high floodwaters and families cooking rice on their roofs.
Oh, and the cleanup that came
after.
<Outro Dream Sequence SFX>
There’s no amount of Philippines
flood news or Facebook photos that can tell you how it feels to be in the
middle of a storm, with the floodwaters rising all around you. I won’t even
attempt to do that right now. Nope. I don’t think it would be fair for all those
caught in the flood and spending the night at relocation centers.
Then send some relief goods to those who need it. Then pray some more. And probably just keep quiet while the guys working in the government bicker about flood problems and solutions.
